Best Cocktail Hour Wedding Reception bar/restaurant?
Hello Hounds,
I'll be returning to one of my favorite cities with my fiance, friends and family in tow. What was originally an elopement turned into a "come one, come all" fete. I'm in search of a low brow or perhaps mid brow joint that would do simply cocktails or champagne and some small bites. Anyone have any experience in this arena? I'm refusing to use one of those generic reception halls and everyone seems to want to pin me down for a 6 course buffet.
I do work in the restaurant biz and understand what it takes for a buy-out of a room but I thought surely because NO is a big destination city for weddings there may be more options around.
Thanks for looking!! Can't wait to return in October '12!! Also, anyone with any other tips of outdoor places like parks, etc. to get hitched please feel free to email me with any insider tips. We're looking for low budget, easy going, welcoming spots for a buncha industry folk and their family.
Cheers,
Anya

We're thinking about 30-50. Because it isn't an invite soiree I don't have a headcount yet. Yes, most of what we want is booked. Exploring options of a venue/rental house with Mr. Mudbug catering alcohol and food. We don't have a ton to spend so our options are cut more than in half. We've already changed our date to this because of the home LSU games in November. Thanks, guys!
Cheers,
