Searching for breast of veal

EllenMM Mar 27, 2012 08:58 PM

Does anyone have any thoughts on where to get a breast of veal with pocket for stuffing - somewhere near Cambridge, Somerville, Medford, Malden?

All done - veal was okay - I wasn't wild about the recipe I chose from Epicurious. Thanks, all.

If you are willing to go Wellesley, call John Dewar.

FYI - after lots of phone call and getting prices quoted, ranging from $10.99/lb, down to $2.49/lb, IF a store even carried it, I found beautiful cryovac'ed veal breasts at the Chelsea Market Basket for the lowest price around. They seem to keep it in stock there.

I have bought a bone-in one from the Medford Stop and Shop on a couple of occasions -- they always seem to have it. The Somerville Market Basket also carries more veal than others and pretty certain I have also bought there, but not certain how regular it is. Also could be worth a call to Nappi Meats in Medford because they offered nice veal, but have gone to more of a restaurant format (nights) but I thought they were still selling meat during the day.

Somerville MB regularly, but not always, has cryovac-ed veal breast. I don't know if it's pre-pocketed though.

McKinnon's in Davis Sq warrants a call as well.
