Amber Steakhouse on Nassau Ave in Greenpoint?

ZenFoodist Mar 27, 2012 06:07 PM

A friend has been raving about this place. RAVING. I'm a Luger's/Del Frisco's girl....Anyone been to this place? Is it solid? The menu is reasonable and varied. But there seems to be no mention of it on these boards...

It's been a while since I've gone, but I found the food to be quite good. It's no Luger, but for the prices they charge I wouldn't expect it to be.

We went Sunday night and will be back. The scallop appetizer and the avocado mashed potatoes were perfectly done and delicious as was the filet mignon, which was buttery and meltingly tender without being flabby and had lots more flavor than the average filet. Perhaps the steak is so good because the restaurant is owned by the proprietors of the large meat market next door. As a white wine drinker I would have liked some more upscale choices by the glass and hope they take ditch Woodbridge and offer some of their NZ wines by the glass. The service and the decor were spot on.
