Sandwich and skewer party

I'm helping a friend with a party—adults and kids of all ages, 35 people in all. Because she wants all finger food, we were talking about sliced baguette sandwiches and skewers. We don't have a ton of time, and she doesn't want to serve anything hot. Here's what I suggested so far; I'd love more thoughts.

Sandwich possibilities:

—Roast vegetables, pesto and/or sun-dried tomato spread
—Basic thinly sliced deli salami/ham/cheese/turkey
—Banh mi
—BLT with or without avocado

She wanted Cuban sandwiches. I told her they are best pressed and hot, but that it's not against the law to serve a cold pickle/mustard/swiss/pork/ham sandwich.

Skewer possibilities:

—Fruit
—Cubed salami and cheese
—Cherry tomato, basil, little mozzarella balls

Wedges of Mufulatta would be terrific.

There are many, many options for both sandwiches and skewers, here are just a few.

Tea Sandwiches: egg salad, tuna salad, smoked salmon with dilled cream cheese, cucumber with watercress
Caprese: sliced mozzarella, ripe tomatoes, pesto
Italian: salami, ham, mortadella, provolone, lettuce, tomato, basil
Wraps: Southern fried chicken, buttermilk ranch, cole slaw, tomatoes; cobb salad (turkey, ham, bacon, cheddar cheese), greens, tomato; vegetable (multiple options--Asian, Mediterranean with hummus); tandoori chicken with cucumbers, red bell peppers, onions, mint; chicken caesar

Skewers (can be served room temp)
Chicken: tandoori, teriyaki, BBQ, ginger/lemongrass, jerk, satay w/peanut sauce, garlic/lime
Beef: Szechuan, teriyaki, ginger/lemongrass, jerk, satay w/peanut sauce
      Pork: jerk
Shrimp: cilantro, scampi, with andouille sausage
      Salmon: chile lime, satay
      Scallop and bacon
Roasted Vegetable (eggplant, bell pepper, tomato, onion)

Basically any meat or chicken item can be flavored and put on a skewer.

Oh, I also suggested a tuna nicoise sandwich.

chilled shrimp on skewers would work too.

i'd use different types of bread, dark rye, small hawaiian buns, portuguese sweet bread, focaccia, etc., and include roll-ups for visual variety.

as much as i like good baguettes my experience is that stuff smooshes out of it if trying for a hand-held sandwich. i'd suggest something softer, or using the baguettes for something spreadable, like hummus or fish pate.

Love the idea of using the mini loaf of rye. Since you have salami in your skewers, how about scratching the salami sandwich and use that mini rye to make bite-sized reubens?
