Work Lunch in the East 50s

Hi All!

I'm meeting a former colleague for lunch next week. I want to meet near her office– 3rd avenue between 51st and 52nd for a relatively quick (an hour or less) lunch. So walking distance from there is a must.

It should be relatively cheap ($20 or less per person. No alcohol. Before tax and tip) and I would prefer table service, not just a sandwich or salad place.

Any thoughts?

Thank you!

  1. There are so many options around there. My favorite is Obao which is a Vietnamese restaurant. It's on 53rd street between 2nd and 3rd. Then there is Radicchio also on the same block that has really good pasta and risotto lunch special...this place is a steal.

Then there is Social Eatz also on the same block. It's a bit more hip and trendy. Great food too.

Then there is Ise on 49th street between 2nd and 3rd. You can get cheap and tasty Japanese home food. You must get there early before or at around 12 to get the set you want.

There is also Sakagura which is one of Chowhound's favorite. Might be slightly more than $20 but worth every penny. Then there is Hide Chan which specialize in hearty Japanese ramen.

I am just naming a few but there are tons and tons of good places to eat around there.
Thai 51 is another great cheap and tasty option.

      Thanks!

      These are great suggestions!

    2. Update: I just found out that Asian (so Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese) are not going to work.
So I need something new– Radicchio sounds good.

Can anyone think of something that might serve like Salads, Sandwiches, Burgers, etc. With Table Service?

      Thanks!

Social Eatz has salad, sandwiches and burgers..though it is asian inspired.
you can also try BXL cafe(belgian) and Cafe Linda(italian) and there are a lot of Irish bar restaurants along 2nd ave.
