Tell me what to expect at the Belmont Tavern in Bellville and is the Chicken Savory really that good?

  1. I was disappointed myself...., but the shrimp beeps was pretty good.

    1. It's one of those places that you have to try. The chicken savoy is the best around. However, other items can be inconsistent.

      1. I haven't been there since Frankie the Fly died.

          The Mayor of Bloomfield Ave.

        2. nothing is really that good but i still think you should enjoy it. chicken savoy and chicken murphy, ask for it with potatoes, pasta with pot cheese, it's all good but you are not going just for the food. it will be a memorable experience.

          1. Don't go out of your way, but if you're locked in, enjoy the "atmosphere" and food that will satisfy but certainly not wow...

            Shrimp beeps
            Chicken Savoy and/or Murphy
            cavatelli

            Note it's cash only.

              And don't ask for Budweiser.

And if you get the house red wine, ask for it cold. It's slightly less horrible that way.

Multiple orders if there are more than 2 people at the table.

My friends LOVED the long peppers, too.

                what is a shrimp beep?

              2. Funny thing, I logged into Chowhund and Belmon Tavern was the first item on the list. It has been on my bucket list for quite some time. I've lived in the area for all my life (65 years) and have never been there. I am going with family (at my request) to celebrate a special event for me. We are going tonight. I am looking to try the shrimp beeps and the cavetelli and pot cheese. Since my daughter has been there many times, she has suggested we have an alternate plan, just in case the folks at the Belmont "are in a mood". So Plan B is Luigi's, which is a few doors past the Belmont.
