Question about "new" posts within a thread...and email notifications

Hi. I don't know if this will make sense, but I will try. When I want to revisit a thread because it has the little "new" icon next to it, which indicates that someone has added some ideas/thoughts to the discussion, it shows me all of the posts to that thread. This makes it confusing, because sometimes the person responded to something in the middle of the thread. It used to show up with the "old" posts hidden away with just the date and user listed and the "new" posts would be shown in their entirety.
Is there a way that I can adjust this so that it works again?

Also, how do I set it up so that threads that I have responded to notify me via email?

Thanks so much!!

  1. In regard to your first question, check to make sure you are logged in to the site. If you're not, threads will look at you describe.

To set email notifications, go to "View Profile" in the top right hand corner of this page, then "settings" and "notifications".

I am logged into the site, so I don't know why it works sometimes and doesn't others.
Thank you for helping with the email. That worked nicely!!

    2. Does this happen with every thread?

I've seen the whole thread expand,if the new post which triggered the "new" flag gets deleted before I click on the thread.

      1. In addition to the possibilities mentioned above, it is also possible that you have encountered a bug that we have had occasional reports on; please see http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/8358... for more information. As stated in that thread, if you notice any patterns or have any additional information about these NEW flag failures, please let us know.
