Breakfast near Westin? Or is it worthwhile to take Metro outside the area? Sorry to post again!

Hi All,

Looking for a good breakfast in Montreal near the Westin.

I usually like traditional breakfasts. My favorite is crepes, croissants, french toast, jams, eggs, bacon, sausage etc...

It's going to be a weekday, so they have to be open for breakfast during the week (not just brunch).

Any recommendations near the Westin?

I might be able to take the metro to it but would rather it be within 15 minutes walk or so.

Thanks so much :)

There's the "Le Gros Jambon" (notre-dame st.) just "behind" your hotel, it's a "new-school " old-school diner, open for breakfast.

      Gros Jambon FB: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Le-Gro...

Also Le Cartet - http://lecartet.com/ (watch the sound)

Olive et Gourmando has amazing croissants but I'm not sure they have much in the way of traditional or full breakfasts (they seem to have one egg sandwich) - still worth a visit for a snack, though - preferably in off-hours to avoid the crowds - http://www.oliveetgourmando.com/

I second Le Gros Jambon. They make their own bread/bagels and I really enjoyed their breakfast last time I was there. Make sure to get an order of "tater tots", best ones I've had in Montreal. Only been to Le Cartet for weekend brunch (which was very good) so I'm unable to comment on their Mon-Fri breakfast.

Went to Le Gros Jambon for breakfast this morning. They now only serve breakfast sandwiches in the morning. They said the prep was too much to keep a full breakfast menu. No more tater tots either. Not sure if this was a trial or their new norm. Sandwhich was great, but would have preferred some choices.

Eggspectations just down the street from the Westin (st Jacques & St. Francois-Xavier) serves a decent breakfast -(i love their French toast!) http://www.eggspectations.com/canada_...
