New Thread on JTM and Atwater

We'll be coming next week but usually come to Montreal in June, so a bit different for us. Please tell me what's good/available at both markets this time of year? We are looking forward to a "different" montreal in March this time.

    Any idea when Les Havre aux Glaces will be reopening for the spring?

      It stayed opened all winter long I believe... I got some ice cream from them 2 weeks ago.

          According to a few online sources, they are indeed open all year-round.

          Hours: Summer: 9AM-10PM every day; Winter: Mon-Wed: 8AM-6PM; Thurs-Fri: 9AM-8PM; Sat: 9AM-6PM; Sun: 9AM-5PM

          JTM website says "Year round"

              Marche Atwater website says May for Atwater location.

              Hopefully, they will open earlier.

              Does anyone know if Satay brothers will be back this summer?

            Depending where you come from you might find Sicilian Blood Oranges different and delicious. They are available at the Fruit stands on the South hand side of the Market.

              Yes, as mentioned in another JTM post yesterday Snow Crab is available as of this weekend. Are you looking for things to take back home or eat on the spot?

                We won't have cooking facilities at our hotel and I don't think we can bring back crab or shrimp to the US, can we? I guess we'd settle for eating some on the spot, though! :-)
                So, no fresh fruits and vegies yet? Will only the indoor market be open? I will def. miss all the beautiful flowers and plants!

                  Nope, no fresh fruits and vegetables from here until late april where fiddleheads will begin. Like everywhere else in Canada and most states in the US...

                Crab will be plentiful (maybe the first shrimps)

                Other than that, it's still quite early for fresh and local produces.

                  Well the only thing in season right now will be the maple products of course. Outdoor stalls will probably not be out too.
