Old Town Pasadena?

perk Mar 24, 2012 02:48 PM

A friend of mine has a meeting in Pasadena on Tuesday night. He asked me for recommendations for an early dinner. Something fairly casual. ..so the Langham is out. I recommended Technique, the restaurant at the Cordon Bleu school...but they're booked. I haven't spent much time in Pasadena lately and I'm coming up blank. Can I get the usual stellar recommendations from the 'Hounds?
Thanks.

Thanks everybody. I gave him lots of options. And now I'm going to have to head to Pasadena soon to check some of these places out.

Noir Food and Wine. Smaller plates, great wine, very nice covered patio.

Maybe not as Chow-ish, I had some nice Mediterranean tapas at Pita Jungle. I like their "healthy" tagline.

And don't forget Daisy Mint for great Thai food.

How about Malbec? Quite good, pleasant environs, good wines.

Be aware that this coming week is Pasadena Restaurant Week, when many area restaurants will be offering prix fixe menus similar to DineLA. In Old Town, I'd recommend Vertical, Kings Row, a/k/a Bistro, even Cafe Bizou. Look into Haven Gastropub (never been; would like to try), or even New York Deli (same).
