    Hi kevin,

You're in luck! I just ate there earlier today (it's Friday) at the sushi counter instead of the tables. It came out to $55, I had an extra piece of saba. I was very satisfied with the amount of sushi to the price ratio.

I actually made a day of this, having omakase at the counter for $55, then went to UCI at the Anthill Pub and had a great Green Flash Hophead Red Ale and a Lips of Faither Cocoa Mole. I was killing time until seeing the documentary "Jiro Dreams of Sushi" at the Edwards movie theater right across campus. What an amazing movie. What an amazing day.

    Hope this helps,

Thanks. I almost made it there myself. And then ended up at Maki Zushi which I'll post on later.

Btw. Is ur 55 bicker include toro and uni?

I guess the price isn't too bad.

And also btw. Do u have to be a student to go to the anteater pub? I always seem to end up at hollingaheads when in the area.

Also how's the atmo at the anteater ?

The $55 counter omakase included 2 pieces of toro nigiri and 2 pieces of uni nigiri (very very good uni). You don't have to be a student to go to the Anthill Pub, the prices are very good especially during happy hour (4-7pm?). Pints are normally $4.50, but they do a dollar off as well as $3.00 off their pitchers. You'll have to pay for parking in a UCI parking structure though ($2 per hour).

Hollingshead's is my favorite place to drink beer.

It's mostly college students. Pretty normal kids. I sat at the bar and reminisced about college, but am thankful I have enough cash to eat omakase sushi and drink craft brew. You gotta check out "Jiro Dreams of Sushi" as well!

The table omakase always costs $35. Like all omakase, the counter omakase goes as high as you want it to based on your appetite and your penchant for expensive, rare fish.
