Good Dining dot com
This new program under the Good Search family of charitable projects supports local charities under a dining out program. Register, dine in or out at a local spot and support your selected charity.
Has anyone used the program in their city yet?
I like the idea, but you are required to allow them to use you for marketing and have to enter credit card info and use only that cc at the establishments because they "track your spending". Ummm, I don't think so. I will continue to make my own donations to my chosen charities.
JenJenCT, I sent in similar feedback a week ago along with the request to see what charities are highlighted before registering. The non profits will also receive marketing and advertising in the form of small block ads on the GD site that link to their org. website. The entire charity database is built from Good Search though so if a charity isn't registered with GS they won't benefit at all. All of these giving programs work off of marketing and trackable data though, I haven't seen one national giving-back program that hasn't.
Thanks HillJ. I never heard of this, but there are 29 participating restaurants within 10 miles of me and 67 within 15 miles. Unfortunately, several are Burger Kings, but there are a few local, independent places I frequent (including my lunch time go to pizza place), so I'll definitely be signing up.
thanks so much for posting this. i hadn't heard about it yet, and a quick search brought up *115* participating restaurants within 10 miles of our house! will definitely look into it.
meanwhile, i'm waiting for the launch of Halfsies...
