Help! Driving myself nuts! Two nights in Manhattan--Keens & .....????????????
Fist I was thinking quaint French bistro. Then, Italian--the kind you can't get in West Texas. Then, I decided Thai; but, was so overwhelmed by which restaurant, if Manhattan even has good Thai, etc. from reading all the posts here that now i'm simply clueless. My boyfriend and I will be there for only two nights. This is very spur of the moment (this weekend is the trip..........) so most of the places I tried initially were full. We are both adventuresome and will spend money on food, though I prefer to spend $250 or less at dinner. We are wine drinkers. The only definitives so far are Keens, Katz's deli, and Minetta Tavern. I lived in NY eons ago and neither of us need a fancy splashy famous restaurant. Just GOOD food. Keep in mind the biggest problem is finding availability anywhere.
agree with other posters. We do classic steakhouses well, but you can get that at home and your menu is already meat heavy.
I would venture our [regional] Italian is better than you get at home. This is not macaroni and gravy "Italian American" mind you. So go on opentable. com or call and see if you can get in at:
These will offer affetati/salumi, nice pastas, esoteric wine lists, etc....
