ISO oils and vinegars

...and not just any oils and vinegars! I was in the US on the weekend and found that a current trend is shops that specialize in imported olive oils, specialty nut oils, and balsamic vinegars on tap. As in, you can taste every single one prior to buying. You make your selection and your choice is decanted into a bottle and heat sealed. I purchased a fabulous balsamic vinegar, a raspberry balsamic vinegar, a cinnamon balsamic vinegar, olive oil from Puglia, apple cider vinegar and toasted sesame seed oil. The selection was amazing, with alot of infused oils and vinegars that I hadn't tried before. It was nice to sample and then purchase exactly what I wanted instead of taking a chance. And according to the owner, the infused olive oils are done through pressing the infusions with the olives as opposed to soaking the infusions in oil for a period of time. It was pretty apparent as the infused oils (from California, mostly) were clear and very, very flavorful (aka waaay different from what you see when you purchase the bottles of olive oil with rosemary twigs in them, for example).
SO, my question is...do any on-tap olive oil and vinegar shops exist in Toronto?
:)

I think the people that sell olive oil at the St. Jacob's market have oils for tasting, but I don't recall seeing oil on tap.

OK so based on the lack of responses (*crickets*) I'm going with the assumption that no such place exists in TO. Sounds like a business opportunity to me!

Nope, no place that I'm aware of. But if you're interested in tasting a lot of oils and vinegars before buying, Pusateri's is great for that.

Yay! I'm not from TO, but it is my closest city, so I'll hit there on my next visit. Thanks so much, I appreciate it.

Have you tried venturing to the Cheese Boutique for flavored oils? They have so many oils/vinegar I am sure you can find something similar there. Obviously these would be pre-bottled brand. I know of the type you're talking about, in Germany there are lots of stores that sell infused oils (mostly go hand in hand with tea shops there). But I have never come across a store here. Maybe check a natural food/health store?

It really seems to be an up and coming trend in the US. I know in Annapolis, there is one shop already up at the Town Center and another to open in downtown Annapolis in the near future (sign is on the door). It seemed like a great concept, and I was hoping something would be already up in Toronto. Thanks for the advice -- I'll check the Cheese Boutique. After all, I LOVE cheese so it wouldn't be a wasted trip, that's for sure!
