Fiance's birthday dinner in SD

Hi all
We are staying at the W hotel on B Street...and i'm trying to find a place that isn't too far (willing to take a cab).
Just looking for a nice place with great food. Trying to stay away from the chains (oceanaire..etc)
Any suggestions where we can get a great birthday meal? (no sushi or indian)

Cafe Chloe is the best place for such a birthday dinner. Only disadvantage is that you can't make reservations but the wait (if there is one) never more than 10-15 minutes

If you'll take a cab to little Italy you could hit the new Prepkitchen Little Italy, or you might consider taking a cab to Urban Solace which is a San Diego favorite.
