The Georgetown Saloon in CT calls it quits
Very sudden, no warning, just closed its doors today.
Not really a surprise considering its bankruptcy filing last year. But the owner swore she would pull things together and it wouldn't close. Well...

It's a sad day... We used to go to the Saloon for the Sunday night (family night) entertainment and dinner with the kids. But, honestly, we stopped several years ago, when the food quality went down and the prices went up. It just wasn't what it used to be.
Georgetown is getting tougher and tougher. Let's hope the new "Spanish Bistro" opening next to Toozy Patza turns out to be a decent option....and fingers crossed for someone to take over the Saloon space and give us back a great place for a fun evening out.

Update story on the closing of the Georgetown Saloon provides a little more color about a place that was once very very popular. Let's hope a new owner comes along and restores some of that.

Really not a surprise at all. The food was mediocre and overpriced - Lumberyard, literally around the corner, has comparable food but is cheaper. Little Pub, up the road, is in the same price range but with much better food.
I hope the space doesn't stay vacant long. We live nearby (less than a mile away) and are in Georgetown almost daily. I would do anything for a breakfast/brunch spot!

re: JenJeninCT
The times I went there in the past few years for lunch it was empty. Food was terrible. The new owner never really hired a decent chef and it showed. Gosh, I've been going there for about 25 years. Back in the day it was a good spot. I've heard a local restaurateur might be taking over. I hope so.
