Where can I buy venison in the Seattle area?

I am wondering if anyone knows where I can find venison in the Seattle area.

Thank you in advance for any replies!

I picked up the venison on Saturday. It looks beautiful and fresh! You can see the attached photo, after I chopped it.

They told me at Metropolitan that they get it from a farm in Oregon. I only bought a pound, but they had to order a bit chunk of it to be able to sell me only a pound. I hope they can sell the remaining meat.

The meat is marinating now, and I'm planning to cook it tonight. Looking forward to it!

Which Metropolitan Market location was it? We might be able to help out by eating some venison.

I picked it up in Kirkland. They can transfer the meat to any location though - in fact, the guy said that they received the meat in another location on Friday, and transferred it to Kirkland on Saturday morning.

I got boneless hind leg, and the price was around $20 a pound. Expensive, but I think it's worth it for such a hard to find and fresh piece of meat. Not for everyday, but a worthy indulgence!

Yelm is a bit far for me... but it seems like they're also at Pike Place!
Will check them out next time I make it there. Thanks for the recommendation.

sadly, stewart's in the market only carries their processed meats (jerky, sausage, etc) rather than fresh cuts BUT bb ranch (in the market where fero's and crystal were) has just obtained a complete (farmed) elk and is prepared to cut it to order

I'm not a venison fan - I find it too gamey. However, if I was looking for it, I would try Don and Joe's Meats in Pike Place Market or any of the Metropolitan Market locations. They all may havve to special order it for you. Good luck!

Actually, I just called Metropolitan and they will get it for Friday! I did not expect them to get it that easily.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will check out the other places, just because I'm always looking for good places to buy meat.

Wow, Thanks for letting us fellow SEA CH'ers know it's that easy. Order up at Met Market.

I find the game laws in the US so sad compared to Europe.... sigh. Wouldn't it be fun to go to the farmer's market and find game everywhere? Hare, Duck, Pigeon, Venison.

                I can dream:)

sorry to rudely awaken you from your dream but, were truly wild game legally salable, there would be much crudely slaughtered, badly butchered and questionably stored meat available. most of the "wild" game in the US market (venison, elk, teal) is farmed and processed at at a USDA facility - knowing a hunter who has some respect for his/her prey is the best way to enjoy what cannot be purchased. also, quail is best without buckshot in it...

Let us know if the cut(s) the Met came through with are good! Glad you found it with a minimum of hassle!
