Need a cheap eats option very near the Whitney

Is there a diner or coffee shop within a few blocks? Or in that price range? Good would be nice but close is more important. Thanks!

    There is a hole in the wall Mexican spot that I LOVE. Go check it out Sabor A Mexico it's on 77th between 2nd and 3rd. Delicious nachos and bean and cheese tacos. Good hot sauce too.

      If you head over to Lexington Ave, due east of the Whitney, there are some inexpensive options around Lenox Hill Hospital. Viand and Lexington Candy Shop are actually quite pricey for what they are.

        Thanks to all. I'm going to try Three Guys on Madison between 75 and 76. Since no one mentioned it, I assume I won't be bowled over, but it could hardly be closer, or cheaper in the neighborhood.

          I'm interested to hear how you like Thee Guys. My last visit to the Whitney took place the Sunday before Untitled had opened for business, so I ended up splurging on lunch at Sant Ambroeus.

          Just to add one more to the list, Nectar was also mentioned as another decent coffee shop in a previous thread.

          Untitled....in the Whitney. (aka Danny Meyer does coffee shop.) It's not incredibly cheap, but it is certainly close.

            Yes, you certainly can't get any closer than Untitled. We've had lunch there twice, most recently last week. Imo, the food is just o.k. with one exception. The red velvet cake is fantastic!

            These suggestions are all closer to 10 blocks than a few blocks. Viand Coffee Shop at Madison + 61st or at 300 E 86th, or the Lexington Candy Shop might work. There's also a Papaya King on E 86th.
