Surprise Cookie from Paradise Bakery

Paradise Bakery in Boston makes a Surprise Cookie which tastes like a chocolate chip cookie batter with crumbled Oreo cookies baked as a drop cookie. My daughter and I have been trying to replicate it and we can't seem to get it to taste exactly like a Surprise Cookie. We've played around with the butter and brown sugar measurements, the vanilla, and various Oreo crumbles. We've even scraped off a little of the icing to tweak the sweetness, but no success. The clerk at the bakery said there were crumbled Oreos in the batter and that's as far as we've gotten. The Bakery has several stores in the West and a store in Boston. Anybody out there familiar with this cookie and its ingredients?

It's a basic sugar cookie base mixed with Oreo crumbs. For best results use crushed Oreo cereal from Post. To cut the sweetness, add some crushed potato chips.

Emme, I believe it's chewy. We used baking soda as called for on the back of the chocolate chip bag.

Ipsedixit, thanks for the tip about the sugar cookie base. Crushed Oreo cereal is an interesting idea.

Thanks to both of you for your ideas. We'll keep plugging.

you might also do a combo of melted butter and shortening.

what's the texture like? chewy? crispy? cakey? sandy?
depending, have you tried adding any cornstarch or milk powder? or increasing or decreasing egg yolks? what kind of leavener are you using?

I should also add that there are no chocolate chips in the batter.
