I'm Sick of These Threads

MacGuffin Mar 18, 2012 02:53 PM

I hate opening my profile page and finding notification of new posts to threads that LONG ago ceased to interest me. Isn't there any way to stop this?

Just ignore them for a few days and they'll move onto the next page. But you'll have to resist opening them one more time.

I don't even want to see them and I don't post often enough to have them move to the next page in any timely fashion. The topics interested me once, they don't anymore, and it seems that I should have the option to stop following them.

      This thread might interest you.

You're right. It interests me and I'm clearly not alone. However, I'm not going to post to it because doing so would mean that I'll have to deal with it forever.

MacGuffin, it appears you decided to post on that sub-thread afterall.

            I couldn't resist. Alas...

I have a suggestion for you or anyone else who doesn't like to see the threads they are no longer interested in jumping to the top of the list of threads on their profile page.

Right above the topics, there is a toggle that allows you to switch from "recent activity" (which is triggered by anyone who posts in a thread and is the reason why old threads you aren't interested in keep jumping to the top) and "my post date" (which lists the thread topics by when you last participated.)

If you toggle to the latter, then threads you are no longer participating in no longer jump to the top of the list of topics. Basically, it changes the list to your most recent interests, not the most recent interests of other posters.

Give it a shot. It's not a perfect solution, but it might work for you.

          Thank you. That does help.

That should be helpful. The only issue is that there are some old threads that still interest me and new threads that just don't. I'll give it a try, though, and thanks. :)
