Looking for Best Restaurants Near Middlebury, VT?

Most of the restaurants mentioned in other posts are at least an hour from Middlebury. Any suggestions for those that are closer other than Starry Night Cafe in Ferrisburg. Will be in the area for graduation and would like to quell the foodies in our group. Thanks!

  1. I personally don't know a lot of places. The two tha stick out are Costellos Market for lunch. Best Italian market in the state. Grab a sandwich here. The other is Taste of India. Best Indian I have had. A little whole in the wall but what great ethnic food isn't.

Thanks so much for your reply. I have called Costellos to see if they can arrange a graduation dinner.

    2. Bobcat Cafe in Bristol or Black Sheep in Vergennes would be my suggestions. About 15-20 minute drive.

Thanks! Will hit one of these the night we arrive. Do you have a preference?

The Bobcat is more casual, for what that's worth. Also, both towns are very pretty, so worth a few extra minutes for a stroll around.

        1. Storm Cafe is fabulous -- sit outside on Otter Creek if the weather cooperates. It's small and worth making a reservation for graduation weekend.
I remember many delicious meals at Mary's at Baldwin Creek in Bristol -- the dining room feels a bit more refined and special than Storm, and it was a popular spot for graduation.
Those are my two close-by recs. Definitely give Storm a try. And don't miss Middlebury Bagel up near the inn!

driving down from Montreal, stopped at Storm Café for lunch yesterday. the patio was enclosed and set up with heat lamps, so we got to enjoy the river. food was delicious! we never would have found this on our own, so thanks for posting.
