Peche & Peche
Opened inside Marche Ouest in West Island - was anxious to have their Clam Chowder Soup which was a disappointment. Many years ago when they were In Marche Ouest the Clam Chowder soup was the greatest - what they now served know why their outdoor restaurant had closed. Soup was thick like pudding, found two slim slivers of Clam, and taste was only SALT. No potatoes at all in it just a thick pudding like soup.Mentioned this to owner - she wasn't interested in what I had to say and said they never have diced potatoes in soup or pieces of Clam?? Found her extremely rude where I would not enter this place again....

I haven't been, but a friend told me that Peche Peche is no more...the location houses a Lebanese resto.
Is this what you mean by "what they now served know why their outdoor restaurant had closed" ?
Not a rant, but along your lines, I will say Peche Peche was a great place when they were in the mall. They tried to go upscale (which I would have supported), but seemed to lose everything that made them great in the first place (which I didn't support...).
I think their problems ran a touch deeper than the chowder (but I agree - in the mall, the soup was excellent).›6 Replies-

re: fredmir
Peche Peche (that was outdoors) is now an Asian resto, I'm assuming porker means the old Peche Peche that used to be in the food court is now a Lebanese resto.
What location did the new Peche Peche in the food court take over?I'm not a clam chowder expert but go one street over to Poissonnerie de L'Ouest on Sources, it's real good and they claim to make it from scratch.

re: ios94
Porker doesn't really know what he's talking about.
He remembers the PechePeche of old where you could choose meals off the wall or choose anything from their market display. He remembers eating good food there, in the mall, with your own wine, poured into greek-style tumblers.
Porker also remembers the excitement when PechePeche opened an opulent place at the end of the mall.
Alas PechePeche lost its soul in the transformation...
Porker hasn't been to Marche de l'Ouest in ages and his friend recently told him PechePeche is gone, replaced by a Lebanese place. Now Porker looks foolish (again) on Chowhound.
