Oil Drum BBQ Grate for Pig Roast

Hi!

I'm looking for a place in Los Angeles that sells oil drum BBQ grates. I'm looking to do a whole pig roast.

Thanks!

If Lowes or Home Depot don't have the diamond shape grates try
    McNichols
    14108 Arbor Place
    Cerritos, CA 90703
    877 884 4653

    Flynn & Ensol
    Signal Hill
    1166 E 23rd St
    Signal Hill, CA
    (800) 733-3378

Or as the others have suggested a metal shop. Most cites have an Industrial area.

I don't know how big a piece you need, but you can go to Lowe's and ask for piece of expanded metal. That's the diamond-shaped metal most of those grills come with. They sell different sizes of pre-cut pieces that might work for you. Lowe's should also be able to trim it to size.

Not all Lowe's are the same - if you go to one geared more for contractors than homeowners (like the one in Torrance), they'll have a better selection of sheet metal.

Worst case, go to an industrial metal supply shop (google one near you) and ask for a full 4' x 8' sheet of expanded metal, and ask them to shear it to the size you need. Sure you'll have a lot of excess material, but then, you'll have enough for a lifetime of replacement grills

Have you tried contacting any of the places that sell oil drum BBQs to see if they will sell you a grate for yours? That would be the first thing I would do.

Sam: Can you recommend any? I can't seem to find any via Google.

Sorry, I can't. Over the years I have seen plenty of random places along the business streets of south central L.A. that sell them and have them displayed out on the sidewalks in front of their shops. I don't remember any specific locations. I think that if you drive along streets like Central Avenue or Century Blvd. after the rain moves out you'd be likely to spot a few of them.

I know that Walmart sells the oil drum style bbq''s. I don't know if they have the grating for sale without buying one of their units...
