Venice: Quadri inquiry

When in Venice I have always avoided Quadri because of its reputation for sky-high prices and food far short of that height. Yet recently I saw a review that claims the restaurant has a new chief and good food. What is more, the folks at Michelin _Italia_ 2012 have awarded it a star. Of course, studying the restaurant's webpage will reveal that to call this place "very expensive" is something of an understatement.

Have any Chowhounders, having first taken out a new mortgage, been there since Oct 2011?

Prayerfully I'll overcome my inveterate procrastination and soon make on Chowhound my own report on restaurants from my recent trip to Italy: Venice, Bologna, Florence, Arezzo, Perugia, Rome.

Thanks. An informative post, with a variety of differing opinions.

From the two posters that have eaten there, it is quite positive. Guess what it comes down to: is it worth taking the chance with the high cost.

    2. From what I understand, they've also opened a cafe downstairs now, so that you can try it out without breaking the bank.

Went to Quadri rest. Last week food was quite good but prices absurd!!!! Go to Il Ridotto or Venissa on Mazzorbo food as good or better prices 1/3 of Quadri. Quadri bill will be the one bill I will kick myself over from this trip. Will post full report later. Ciao!
