Ladies' Lunch

  • 9

For a friend's birthday, I want to take her to a nice, leisurely lunch. The lunch would need to be on a Saturday due to our schedules. Most of the places we originally had in mind only serve lunch Monday thru Friday. We are open to cuisine but would prefer somewhere with inventive vegetarian options. Also we would love an interesting cocktail list or wine list. I'd like to keep it around $50 a person, but for something stellar, I would go up. If its somewhere where we can walk around afterwards, like an interesting old town, that would be a bonus. Thank you!

  1. What parts of the metro region are preferred based on your individual locations?

    1. chef's choice lunch runs about $40 a head at Zaytinya (+ drinks) and tell them you want plenty o' veggie options - or given the format you can order it all bit by bit at your pace. it's usu. slow on weekend afternoons anyway.

      1. We are pretty open to location. I'm more than willing to travel for something really nice.

But this is the DC-Baltimore board. That is a BIG area. How far are you willing to travel? What is your starting point?

I know its a big area and I'm very willing to travel. We are coming from Rockville, MD but I don't mind driving an hour or two for something really awesome.

There are hundreds of places within a 1-2 hour radius of Rockville that would suit your parameters. It would help us narrow it down. Even if you picked one area, like Old Town Alexandria, there were would quite a few great choices, eg Vermilion, Landini Bros, the Majestic, La Refuge off the top of my head.

        2. The Majestic in Alexandria might be a good choice - I personally haven't had lunch there, but the place has a good reputation in general. It is also in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, which is a great place for strolling afterward. They are open for lunch on Sat.

          1. How about Tabard Inn? They have a Saturday brunch from 11 - 2:30 and I suppose they might let you wander around the Inn and look at some of the unoccupied rooms, if you ask them in advance. The hallways and stairwells are fairly interesting. And they have a great bar.

Potowmack Farm also has a Saturday brunch: http://patowmackfarm.com/ and they have a vegetarian menu.

have you considered Volt in Frederick? They have a great brunch and lots of interesting places to see in the area.
