Can't make a decision -- but my list keeps getting longer
My back story: Coming into town on business. Staying downtown by the convention center and I won't have a car. My perdiem is $60 a day which I devote mostly to dinner. I have 5 nights for dinner. One day - when I will be free of work I'm thinking I will go to the Original Farmer's Market and then to Animal or Son of a Gun for dinner.
That explained -- I am so torn between being good and going to places that are downtown-ish and saying but these places appeal to me and going just where a feel.
Here is my lengthy list:
Spice table
Picca
Rivera – for special menu - I've been there before
Mozza – been there before
Church and State – not too crazy far away
Son of a Gun
Animal - been there before
Baco Mercat (closed Sunday)
Mezze
Aburiya Toranoko
Comme ca
Angelini osteria
Night + Market
Foundry on Melrose

Spice Table is alright but it's not worth traveling for if you have had Southeast Asian already.
Rivera , $60 won't get you far unless you don't drink alcohol there's some decent dishes but my recommendation is stay away from the seafood entrees they are mostly forgettable.
Church and State - I don't know where you are coming from but it's pretty typical French Bistro fare so nothing too unique.I would recomend Son of a Gun and Baco Mercat since they are unique but watch out for the service at Baco Mercat I hear its pretty bad. Night + Market is a good choice but Aburiya Toranoko is a difficult one because the menu is very hit and miss in my opinion.
