As we emerge out of our dens, with the stands at Fenway being prepped, and warmer days soon to be in full bloom, the annual recital of reasons to make a trip to Newmarket Square for a Speed's hot dog begins anew.

This day, a special reason, with a coupon deal on boston.com for a dog, chips and soda for $8.

Any news of Speed himself? Does he still make any appearances at the truck?

Any further news about the in-the-ground restaurant that was rumored at one time?

I haven't had my Speed fix in awhile so I haven't had an update on him from Gregg lately.

The new food truck schedule will go into effect on April 1st and Speed won some good locations in the lottery that was held for the most coveted spots. Boston mag posted results

The Speed wagon will make appearances at:
City Hall Plaza - Wednesday afternoon
In front the the library Copley- Monday evening
A new site in the Financial district on Thursday evenings
Chinatown Greenway on Thursday evenings.
I would imagine he will still do SOWA some weekends.

Nice info there, and looking around their site, http://www.cityofboston.gov/business/mobile is a nice hub for food truck info, including this really nice page showing who is where at any given time, with a map. http://www.cityofboston.gov/business/...

Nothing there mentions Speed's, that I can see, which is weird, because it is listed on the chart ebone pointed to. A work in progress, I suppose!

I'll have to find the schedule someone gave me - it said Speed's was going to be at City Hall on Wednesdays & was also going to be in Dewey Square 1 day a week (can't remember what day).

The brick & mortar restaurant fell threw but I read somewhere (eater, grubstreet?) that with the new location by government center that there may be additional trucks. Not sure if that was a liberal interpretation by the website or backed up with facts but it sure would be nice if there was a fleet of Speed's trucks.
