Tapas - I appreciate the post but Restaurant Depot isn't open to the general public (only those in the food service business and non-profits).

It's true, a friend who isn't in the restaurant industry was shot by their security guards when he tried buy four salt shakers without the proper credentials. Seriously though, bgut1 is 100% correct, if you're not in the industry, you will have a tough time buying there. In the past, if you were crafty you could get around their requirements, but now they're much more diligent. You need either a reseller's permit or tax-exempt certificate to get a membership card and shopping privileges.

According to comments on the following thread, you can obtain membership with either...

any Business ID, Sales Tax Certificate or your Social Security Number.

So it's almost like a Costco or Sam's club membership wise? Up till now I always go to
"Shore Restaurant Supply" on Rt 88 in Brick NJ

I've never been to Shore Restaurant Supply but I'd like to check it out! I imagine it would be similar.

RD appears to be similar to Costco but with bigger packages and cheaper prices. Here's a current sales circular:

I'm specifically hoping I can get some cheap oxtail there...supermarket prices these days makes me want to throw up.

SRS is nice but mote family owned and operated.....they do have most specific chefs food needs separate or bulk and also another department with utensils, pots, pans knives etc, etc, ..check it out. No membership required just walk in and shop.

        2. Does anybody know if they have opened yet?
