Good old style butcher shop in Chester County

Does anyone know of a great butcher shop in the Philadelphia suburbs somewhere in the Wayne to West Chester region? I mean the kind of old style butcher that has interesting cuts of meat, sells soup bones at a reasonable price, etc.

Thanks!

Westtown Meat Market is excellent. They sell dry aged meats, free-range chickens, etc. Not inexpensive but reasonably priced for the quality.

It's a funny thing about Westtown Meat Market (and I assume that's the place on Rt. 202 just off the bypass you're talking about) -- I went in there once, at the recommendation of someone here on CH, and I found it rather unappetizing. There was a funny smell in there, and the meat in the cases didn't look all that great to me. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but I felt no need to return.

I'll give them a try. Thanks!

Not necessarily looking for fancy, although once in a while we may go for something a little our of our range. Would love to be able to buy free range and grass fed, but they usually blow the budget.

Two places come to mind, although neither sells soup bones at what I'd call "a reasonable price." In the town (village? borough?) of Malvern is Worrell's Butcher Shop on King St. And a bit further west, my personal favorite, The Country Butcher in Kennett Square. http://www.countrybutchermarket.com/

Thanks! I'll check them this weekend. (Appreciate the link, too!) I can't believe I've never heard of the one on King Street -- it's not that far from where I work. People have asked me if I knew of a good shop, and I would often wonder why there aren't more of them.

You'll probably get more responses on the Philly board, which includes the suburbs.
