One dinner, one person: what would you recommend?

I will be in NOLA for 12 hours on Thursday. I get to have dinner out by myself, otherwise other meals are provided for me. I also plan to get a few sandwiches from Cochon Butcher to go, so not there. I need to be seated by 6, in a cab to the airport by 8, so Green Goddess seems like a bad idea. I'd be particularly interested in places that have opened in the last year, as I went to many of the traditional standbys in September. Thanks so much!

We really enjoyed Cafe Atchafalaya if you haven't been there yet.

Sit and eat at the bar at Coquette. Thursday will be $5 specialty cocktail night, and I love hanging out and eating at the bar there.

Actually, for new places I'd recommend the High Hat on Freret and Maurepas in the Bywater.

Edited to add: And Sylvain! Yum.

Edited again: I haven't tried Sweet Olive on Canal (run by the same chef as Coquette) or Tamarind in the Hotel Modern at Lee Circle (which would be very near I-10 for a quick getaway) but I've heard good things and they are on my list of places to try.

Thank you so much! I love the idea of sitting at the bar at Coquette or a similar experience. I'll check out menus at all these places. Thanks!!!

I had dinner at the bar at Root in December and service was excellent.

Agree about Root, although Maurepas is new and really good too. Root is just a couple of blocks, well maybe three and a half, from Cochon Butcher, so it would be convenient to pick up the sandwiches.
