Seeking suggestion for interesting weeknight midtown dinner
Arriving on 6pm flight from LA and staying at The Muse on 46th at 6th. Seeking dinner idea not to far from our hotel around for $50pp or less for food only - we often split two or three starters and one main however. Happy to eat cheaper, too. Open to many cuisines - thought not Japanese or Korean for this meal. Nice wines by the glass a plus. Would like some energy but not so much that we can't talk (or get reservation!). Last restaurant that fit this bill for me was the Bouley Test Kitchen a few years ago. Thanks!

I assume there are two of you? If you can spend $50pp for food only and you tend towards small plates already, I'd head to the Bar Room at the Modern.
Alsatian-inspired, good energy in the room, and you can make reservations on OpenTable.
