Boulder - Picnic food to take to Rocky Mountain National Park

Hello, all...... we will be staying in downtown Boulder and plan to go into the National Park on a couple of the days there. Can anyone recommend a place where, around 8:00 AM, one might get some hound-worthy food that will travel well to take with us into the park?

  1. I would say Whole Foods or Alfalfa's markets. I'm not sure if any places liked Cured, Dish gourmet or the like are open that early.

Dish opens at 9am, I love them but if you need to go before that...

Cured doesn't open till 10:30 on weekdays. I haven't spent time in Cured, my wallet won't let me ;-), so can't comment on monopod's suggestion.

Another option would be Breadworks on Broadway by Ideal Market, they open at 7am, and may be better than Whole Foods and Alfalfas (but maybe not, I have had some good sandwiches there in the past, but haven't been in quite some time and don't think I have had any other "picnic food").

    2. RobynS is correct, Cured isn't open that early. But they're so good that I'd personally recommend going there the day before and stocking up - wine, cheese, charceuterie, bread, and condiments will keep just fine overnight if you have a small fridge available, and that way you get the benefit of their fabulous selection and also don't need to worry about it in the morning.

If that's not going to work, then I agree that Whole Foods or Alfalfa's is probably your best bet for something open at 8am.

      1. Thanks, all. These are exactly the kinds of tips I was looking for.
