Restuarant on Ventura - I need help!!!!

My brother who's not a foodie( yes we came from the same parents) went last week and is obsessed with it. . Here is the info as I know it. Heading west on Ventura towards Sepulveda between Woodmanand Van Nyes, but just past Woodman on the right hand side.He says it starts with a "C or"S". and he had roast beef tacos but it was a Creole/Cajun fusion restuarant. Does anyone know what this may be?

Only remotely cajun restaurant there is the Fish Dish, http://www.fishdishgrill.com/, but its the wrong side of the street. They don't have roast beef tacos, but they do have grilled chicken tacos, and I guess you could call it cajun/creole fusion. No "C" or "S", but the name rhymes...

the only C restaurant on north side in the vague vicinity is the tired Cafe Cordiale. the only S restaurant is Stanley's, which I've never, ever heard anything about. Sweet Butter Kitchen cafe is on the south, but judging from their menu they don't do roast beef tacos. http://sweetbutterkitchen.com/cafe.asp
otherwise it's a no man's land along that stretch. and what the heck is a roast beef taco anyway, and why would it be in a Creole/Cajun joint? I think your brother should retrace his steps and report back.

"S"pitting "C"hicken Cantina is further west on Ventura, past Van Nuys, and they have tacos, albeit steak, but maybe that's what he's calling roast beef...Stevie's also immediately came to mind when you mentioned Cajun/Creole...any clue on what was he drinking that night? maybe it threw off his locational gyro. This is the Chowhound version of 20 Questions ;)

I can't imagine it would be Stanley's. It is basic American fare. Use to go to the bar there often, but it is not a destination for me these days.

Boneyard seems the most likely, but it is a block east of Woodman (but is it possible brother is mistaken about location?). From description, it seems that OP is looking for a restaurant between Woodman & Van Nuys, on the north side of street (which eliminates Jinkys & Senor Fred)

The more I look at their late night menu the more I'm convinced that Bone Yard Bistro must be the place: http://www.boneyardbistro.com/menus/B...

Same with me re: JInkys. I think this thread is hilarious. I guess your brother should retrace his steps and enlightens all. Perspective is so important! Who knows?

no creole or cajun places around that area that i can think of. the closest would be stevies in encino.
