I Need Your Assistance Overcoming a Search Obstacle

I'd like to find all the recipes for whiting on the Home Cooking board. I searched that board for whiting recipe (not in quotes) and got nearly 3000 results. The first page shows results for white cake, egg whites, black and white cookies, white wine, white miso, white sugar, white flour...you get the idea. I tried a few more things - quotes, plus signs, the addition of the word "fish," but could not get the search to distinguish between "whiting" and "white."

A Google search - whiting recipe fish site:chow.com - does limit the results to those that actually contain the word "whiting." But I can't figure out how to refine the results to Home Cooking only (adding "Home Cooking" did not work). I may one day be interested in the best whiting sandwich in Birmingham, but today is not that day.

Your thoughts?

Enter this as your google search:
site:chowhound.chow.com whiting WITH recipe WITH chowhound WITH "home cooking" WITH "Discuss Recipes, Cooking Techniques and Cookbooks"
It narrowed it down to 78 results.

Thanks. I didn't think to use WITH. I'm still getting stuff about foods that are white, and whitening agents, and Whiting, Maine. But this is certainly an improvement.

        You are welcome.

Actually it is adding "Discuss Recipes, Cooking Techniques and Cookbooks" that narrowed it to the Home Cooking board. If you type –Maine to that search string it knocks another 10 irrelevant hits. Oddly, adding –whitening increased the irrelevant hits.

Are you saying you are doing that outside of CH, as an advanced search in Google?

I did it as a google search. The advance search on google always seems to deliver more irrelevant hits than a simple text search.
I wish there was a better search function on Chowhound.

I wish that search engines - Chow's & elsewhere - would simply trust that what I typed was what I meant to type. I have the same beef with auto-complete/correct.
