Graduation time in Newcastle

We have 2 nights in Newcastle in July for uni graduation. Staying at the Jesmond Dene and would like recos for one celebration dinner and then something a little more casual. I like the idea of a great (gastro) pub and have seen several listed. Feathers Inn, Pan Haggerty and Broad Chare. Any thoughts? We like the idea of quayside and are considering Cafe 21 for the celebration dinner. Any thoughts on Blackfriars? I fear it is too kitschy but have no idea. Help appreciated.

Cafe 21 is absolutely great and well worth a visit. It's been our regular haunt for many years. Broad Chare is owned by the same people and is an excellent gastro pub. Pan Haggerty is a restaurant rather than pub, occupying the former premises of Cafe 21. My wife has been a couple of times to Blackfriars but was disappointed each time. For a cheap and cheerful lunch, dinner or just coffee try Pani's, a Sardinian cafe with good food and lovely staff.

Any comments on the restaurant Six? We like he views it offers but wondering about the food?

We've been to Six but felt the views were rather better than the food. Obviously, just a personal opinion.
