How's the food at the Royale (Raleigh Hotel)

I love the ambience of the garden but the quality of the food is more important! We're coming from winter so want to get a real Florida (outdoor) experience but GREAT FOOD comes first.

We loved Michy's and Michael's Genuine but may not have a car this time

Any recommendations in South Beach?

I would not do the Raleigh unless the takeover by Michael Schwartz is complete by the time you arrive.
The Dutch - One of the best pork chops in the universe
Alta Mare - the hogfish is awesome and their PP&J desert is great.
Sushi Samba - Go for the interesting non sushi related dishes.
    Shake Shack
    Yardbird
    Sardinia
    Any one of the Pubbellies

(never mind my original now deleted comment, I see you've got Sardinia on your list). I'd add on a more casual note Burger & Beer Joint, though any of these places would come first for me, esp. Pubbelly, Pubbelly Sushi, Sardinia, Altamare. Haven't gotten myself to the Dutch yet, guess I have to do that.

I wanted to dislike the dutch because it is expensive but no can do.

Get the double shack rare and then come talk to me.

Sorry, but Shake Shack doesnt fit that bill even if it's a triple shack rare with concrete all over it. Good burger, yes. Not somewhere I'd send someone to get a real taste of Miami.

Triple shack has too much meat to bun ratio.

They wanted to be outdoors and have great food. They never said they wanted a taste of miami.

Have you actually had the double shack rare?

yes, it's a good burger. Almost got another one yesterday for that matter but my new found pseudo-diet willpower kept me away. I still think In N Out is a better fast food burger.
