good coffee in midtown, within a 10 minute walk of 52nd & Madison?
I like the Dean & Deluca outpost near Rockefeller Center and the Joe the Art of Coffee in Grand Central, but I'd love to have some other places for take-out coffee on my shortlist. Are there any others you'd recommend?

Just to note, Bouchon Bakery replaced the Dean & Deluca in Rock Center.

Oh thanks- I had no idea. Haven't been to Rockefeller Center since last March. ;-) Guess that will mean I'll have an opportunity to try Bouchon's sticky bun. I'm a big fan of the Balthazar sticky bun that can be found at Dean & Deluca http://tmagazine.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/04/02/the-bun-report-hot-cross-and-sticky/ http://www.ediblemanhattan.com/magazi...

re: Phil Ogelos
The only one out of range is Culture and possibly Zibetto. I don't like Oren's or Fika, although the latter does have some good sweets, and A Kafe has been terrible in my two visits, just very badly prepared. Zibetto is OK if you like Italian style espresso, has a different vibe from anything else in NYC.

The Shop at the Andaz Hotel on 41st and 5th Ave. Usually well-prepared Cafe Grumpy coffee and quality homemade sweets. They have food too I believe, but I haven't had any.
Rize Coffee, on 42nd & Lex, is hard to find, but it's just off the southwest corner of the intersection. I haven't been in about six months, but as of last visit they were purveying Stumptown that ranged from tolerable to not bad.
There are other spots, some closer to you, but none I'd remotely recommend.
