1000 island sauce for dipping?
A few local restaurants where I live serve this delicious sauce that tastes similar to 1000 island dressing for sandwiches. However, it is thicker and has some other seasonings in it I'm sure. Has anyone ever heard of this or made something similar at home? Thanks!
Yeah it's basically 1000 Is. bought in 3/5 gal plastic pails. The restaurants then add their own 'secret' ingredients like different relishes and herbs and ketchup and smoked paprika....you name it even so-called truffle oil. Very big now among the 'street eat' trucks. It's cheap and tasty and can cover a multitude of culinary sins. LOL
For years, I've used 1000 island dressing on hamburgers. The only brand I use is Bob's Big Boy 1000 dressing, it is thicker than other brands. Ken's Steak House 1000 Island is my 2nd choice but nowhere as good as Bob's in my opinion. I won't use Kraft or Wishbone 1000 island on burgers.
