Help! Tonight, Wednesday, at The Burren
So many bad words about this place, but we have to eat there tonight if we are going to get good seats for the Dervish concert. PLSE advise on what to order (or should we sneak in snacks)!Thx much.

Not bad at all. Baby spinach salad with sauteed portabellos, roasted red peppers and walnuts- in balsamic glaze was terrific. Cod Espagnola on a bed on mashed pota. w/ sauteed peppers, corn, spinach, tomato- was very good, per My Love.Next door, Irish Beef Stew looked good and abundant. Fries w/ curry sauce-creamy homemade wide fries; nice break w/ the curry sauce.
Sigh of relief. Thanks for your tips, youall.›2 Replies -
Its a classic place for an Irish six-course meal -- 5 pints of guinness and a order of potatoes (in this case chips or crisps).
I enjoy their lunch for what it is, particularly the Irish Breakfast Sandwich and occasionally the ploughman's lunch. They aren't very accomodating about substitutions, although they have let me order the breakfast sandwich at dinner. They have offered their turkey dinner (leftovers?) in the form of an openface sandwich which was tasty and their fish/chips is decent, but not nearly as good or consistent as the druid. Personally I am not a big fan of either their bangers and mash or the shepherds pie. The burger is decent and generally cooked to temp (or a bit more well done). In general its a bar/pub and they don't try to pretend they are a bistro, which is something I can respect. I wouldn't go there for dinner, but if I have to order dinner to secure a table I keep it simple (and some of the waitresses will let you order just chips and curry if you really want).
