Cottage Grove?

mattwarner Mar 6, 2012 08:45 PM

We are headed to Cottage Grove, ore., next week to visit the Village Green Resort andGarden. I have never been to Cottage Grove. Is there any food scene we must hit, or anything in the greater area we should see? We will be glad to run up to Eugene for s day, and we are planning to drive around the area for a day, too.

I concur on Big Stuff BBQ in Cottage Grove. It's number one on my "Best Que in Oregon" list. If you're in the area and like BBQ, it's a must-try. My brother and I drove from Salem specifically to ask this place to the dance. We both considered it well worth the trip.

I've not tried it, but there have been positive postings for Big Stuff BBQ on Main in Cottage Grove.
Try searching the many Eugene postings, too.
      Have fun.

We stayed at The Village Green a few months ago. The restaurant at the resort is actually very good! In the Eugene area, King Estate Winery has amazing food. It is a more formal venue. If the weather is nice, the outdoor patio is great for lunch or you can dine inside by the beautiful fireplace. :)

We were surprised by the restaurant at Village Green. We had good food and service in both he dining room and bar. We dint make it to Big Stuff BBQ, but Buster's Main Street Cafe ws fantastic for a late breakfast/early lunch.

Maybe we will try Buster's when we are in the area next month. What did you order there?

We split a monte cristo and loco moco. Both were good, though loco moco can only end up so good...

This Texan was passing through Cottage Grove last week and we went to Buster's. Loved the root beer selection and all four of us really liked the food. It is a typical small town diner with great simple food. Well worth a short detour off I-5.

Buster's is great for their soda selection alone-they have several hundred kinds and we love to try new ones (my husband works in CG so we meet for lunch sometimes). Food is fine, I don't find it super exciting.

We love the Indian restaurant in CG-surprisingly good.
