Toronto Life Best New Restaurants/Best Restaurants App

caviartothegeneral Mar 6, 2012 03:54 PM

April issue of Toronto Life features their annual Best New Restaurants list -- this time by committee (no bylines on any of the reviews):

1. Yours Truly
2. Acadia
3. Aria
4. Keriwa
5. Ortolan
6. Barque
7. F'Amelia
8. Modus
9. Volos
10. Mideastro

As well, they've launched an iPhone/iPad app for which they're charging $1.99.

Toronto Life no longer has a head honcho of reviews. Used to be James Chatto, and then it was Chris Nuttall Smith. Without commenting on whether Nuttall Smith's shoes were big or not big, perhaps they haven't been filled by someone else? Hence, the fact that the restaurants were selected by the remaining reviewers. (I must admit Toronto Life hasn't been a source of restaurant information for me for a couple of years now... so, I'm not likely to be spending anything on the app. Not sure I'd download it for free.)

What?? Modus?? Can this be the same Modus that I visited 2 months ago?

Honestly, what a joke. I'm still pissed about the $300+ we wasted that evening. I am hoping that will go down as our WORST MEAL THIS YEAR. Gritty scallops, boring apple and lettuce salad in a soup bowl, boring, bland food and service to match. Picture all this with an owner strutting around but never once asking his customers if everything is all right. OMG that place sucked.

I wrote a review shortly after her on Chow. If you want more details, check it out. Seriously do not go there unless maybe you are looking for drinks and attitude.

Ya TL is totally useless. Yours Truly at #1 gave me a good laugh too.
