Family of Four, Fun First Night
Two teens and two parents, foodies from DC, will be looking for great food and atmosphere to kick off our bayou vacation. We are trying to avoid places that are too touristy or too top-dollar. We'd be grateful for recommendations in or around the French Quarter, for dinner and later music.
Thanks very much

For "top dollar" you may include many of the well rated restaurants but do a search and you will find many recent threads with suggestions for reasonable cost specials at many of them, or good restaurants with midrange prices. Generally, prices at even good N.O. restaurants is less than what you pay in northern big cities. Check menus on line.
You will find tourists in the good restaurants along with the locals. After all the good choices are what bring tourist foodies here. With a few important exceptions the tourists places have barkers and/or lines. Exceptions being Galatoires and maybe Acme (if so cross the street to Felix) and Johnny's po-boy right at lunch time
