Friday night after flight meal

Hello!

I'm new to posting here. Four of us are arriving from Toronto on Friday night and are looking for a place for dinner. The only issue is that we won't be able to make any reservations before 10 pm. We enjoy great food and would appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Thanks!

Cotogna is a good option. It's an easy walk, an even simpler cab ride. Maybe cab out and walk back once you get the lay of the land. The food there is very good, drinks are outstanding, prices moderate and the vibe is both casual and sophisticated if that makes any sense. I like eating at the copper-topped bar but tables are available.

I believe Absinthe in Hayes Valley serves food until midnight, drinks until 2a, on Fridays. Ryoko serves excellent sushi until 1a in a basement den near Union Square; sit at sushi bar if you can.

        Where are you staying?

Locanda serves until at least midnight.

Locanda's another good option. Midnight daily.

We're staying close to the Ferry building. I'm really, really looking forward to the farmers market. It will be nice to get more than locally grown root veggies or greenhouse salads.

Since you're staying near the Ferry Building, Tadich Grill might be an option. You could just walk up California St. They close at 9:30 though.

Their flight gets in at 10pm. Cotogna and Comstock are open late and not far away.

Lers Ros is open until midnight, probably won't need a reservation at that time. http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/592489

            Other options:

Zuni Cafe, Bar Bambino, Cotogna, midnight

            Comstock, Nopa, 1am

            Yuet Lee, 3am

This is a good thread as we also arrive at 22:00, and after 12 hours on a plane will need to decompress with some food and drinks (our bodies will also think it is 14:00 so we won't be too tired). If we head to Zuni or Nopas do you think we need to book for a really late table....?

Reservations seem problematic since your flight might be late and it can easily take an hour to get your luggage and get to your hotel. Best to have a list of places not far from your hotel.

That late, reservations shouldn't be needed if it's a restaurant with a bar + tables. The bar may be crowded, but I haven't been to a restaurant where the tables were crowded at that time.

I would call before heading out (if possible) just to make sure the kitchen didn't close early, that there is room, but that's really out of an abundance of caution and shouldn't be necessary.

On a Friday or Saturday night in SF, a few places still have long waits at 11pm. NOPA might be one. Calling to ask about the crowd is a good plan.
