Delivery Tips in NYC (from New York Times)

I don't live in NYC (I live in the 'burbs), but I thought most of the tips shown here in a "slice of life" for a delivery guy were pretty darn stingy.

  1. Ouch! That's crazy stingy!

    1. Yeah, I don't live anywhere near NYC, but I wouldn't think of tipping less than $3 no matter the size of the order. My brother lives in NYC and we ordered in while I visited, I asked how much to tip (ordered online) and he said 20%, so that was 8 for a pizza and salad. He's not someone who is an exceptionally high tipper in general...

      1. I agree - very stingy. I used to live in the suburbs and never tipped less than 20%.

I too was unpleasantly surprised when I read the article - I'd never give a delivery guy less than 3 bucks either, and mine have the luxury of driving a car to make deliveries. Knowing what these guys go through to navigate traffic, weather, etc., come on - pony up some more cash!
