Have you ever tried this stuff?
I got a bottle for Christmas and sort of just let it sit there. Almost forgotten.
Well, today for dinner I had it on some ice cream just to see what it was like. What a wonderful surprise. A deep, rich flavor that's sort of a blend between molasses, cola, and spearmint.

I wonder if this is the base for birch beer, a soft drink I grew up with in Pennsylvania Dutch country. I've only seen the finished soda, not any syrup.
Y'know, I've been tempted to try this stuff for YEARS. As I recall, though, there are a number of other Alaskan vendors, including one who carries a lot of other unusual syrups (including pine needle) as well.
