Tu Casa in Kew Gardens

janie Mar 3, 2012 04:24 PM

Been getting takeout here consistenly for about 6 weeks now, and their chicken is very good, as good as pio pio, and their hot sauce is wicked hot (although I can't eat spicy at the moment--but my hub loves it)--they are also very nice there, as opposed to the absolute nastiness at the woodhaven branch of Pio Pio, and they are much less expensive than Pio Pio--Tu Casa is packed every night, doesn't matter what day--they are doing great, and the joint across the street is always empty--another peruvia chick place..they are actually making peruvian chick at Tu Casa, but they are dominican--they are also same owners as deli across the street from them, and another tu casa in astoria.

but, it's a good reliable neighborhood spot in kew gardens, and there aren't too many good places to eat there--they also have good inspection record, for those that care.

The skirt steak & sweet plantains are also quite good. One order is enough for 2 to share.

I've gotten take out from the one in Astoria a few times and have consistantly been impressed by the quality. As i recally I tried the lomo saltado and the pernil and enjoyed both.

I may try the pollo a la brasa at some point, but now that the cheap, guilty deliciousness of Caravan Chicken has re-opened over on Broadway, I may stick to the other menu items for now.
