On the recommendation of A. Abramson I went to Pelly's in Carlsbad. The seafood market seems to be fresh and the prices are average to say a Point Loma Seafood. My friend and I ordered two grilled fish , the swordfish and Mahi Mahi. Both of them were overdone and dry. The cole slaw was just a very finely shredded cabbage with not much flavor, the clam chowder's clams were a little overdone and rubbery and the spices were a little off, the rice that came with the platter was very ordinary.

If the fish were done properly and not overcooked as well as the clam chowder I would consider it a good find. I can do much better at home though making my own chowder and grilled fish.

The fish is fresh though I will give them that.

You must have been there on an off day....I've been going there for 11 years and never had an experience like yours...

Very odd, as anyone I've sent there has always been glowing.

Why didn't you ask them to make it over...?? They are very friendly people and stand behind their product.
