UWS Moderately priced but quality meat restaurants

It's been a while since my last visit to the UWS. I would appreciate recommendations for restaurants fitting the bill (i.e. please don't suggest Prime KO). Reviews and recommendations of specific dishes will be much appreciated. Thanks. Shabbat shalom.

Avitrak has a point, it's an expensive neighborhood. Even picking up a corned beek sandwish at Kosher marketplace on Broadway is not cheap.

That said, you might look at Estihana. http://www.estihana.com/brooklyn/menu...

And, if you're looking for, say, a place to eat after taking the kids to the Natural History, there is a small, falafel/schwarma take out on Columbus with a couple of tables.

      Any opinions on Meat Me?

Was they're recently, ambience is okay, chef came out to check on us, which was nice. Food was fair, would probably go back to give it another shot, though it leaned toward the expensive side.

Alibaba is on Amsterdam, not Columbus. And it may have been delicious years ago, it has lost a step or two (or three). It's simply not as good as it used to be at all.

:-( It has been at least 4-5 years since I was there last, but it used to be the only place still open at 3am after I got out of work. I fondly remember their shwarma b'pita with plenty of homemade salatim and a rip roaring schug, mellowed only by the mango prigat to follow ...craigcep, I hope you just had a bad run there, but hey the place is still cheap :-)

Nope, not cheap and not good either. No reason to go really. According to koshertopia they're only open until 2am now too.

Agreed, it's far from inexpensive and the food quality has declined so much in the past few years. Wouldn't recommend at all, ditto Talias. Kasbah is decent but quite overpriced now. Estihana is a pretty good recommendation.

It doesn't exist. Kasbah is the closet to what you're looking for, but it's too expensive for what it is and the quality isn't great. You're other options are Meat Me and Prime KO. Both are more expensive but you are at least getting better food for your money. And please do not go to Talia's, it's nearly as expensive as Meat Me and nearly as bad as Kasbah.

I agree, unless the hecscher at Hummus Kitchen is acceptable to you.
