Self Guided Polish Food Tour?

  • 3

Hey there

Chef from CT visiting NY next week for 5 days... I've decided to check out food related to my heritage. I know there's a huge Polish pop. in Greenpoint. Any suggestions for a self guided food tour?

Thanks

  1. Greenpoint is in brooklyn - you'll have more success if you post another request on the Outer Boroughs board, where Brooklyn chowing is discussed.

In the city, Polish GI deli on first ave in the east village has a pretty impressive array of products (considering its the size of a large closet) and a good number of home-made items (the grandmotherly ladies in the back are super sweet) and interesting cold cuts - ive never gotten the names but had good luck asking questions and pointing to things that looked tasty.

I was going to say the same thing last night but I noticed he had already posted on the OB board.

yeah, i noticed the other thread on the OB board, but left my original endorsement of Polish GI - the greenpoint reference in the manhattan board got me confused (and i hadnt seen the other post)
