Restaurant like Lupa?
My client wanted to go to Lupa but no reservation in mid-March available. We are a pretty big group. Any suggestions near 40th & Madison. Koi is what comes to mind first.

Lupa isn't for a big group anyway. Also, Lupa is not too good and has limited menu. Otto, which also is not too good, is good for big groups. Also Lupa is nowhere near 40th and Madison. Try Cinque ( private room), Osteria Morini, D'Andrea, Locanda Verde, Al Fiori.

Assuming "like Lupa" refers to food, why not other Roman/similar Italian restaurants like Cacio e Pepe, Via Emilia, Crispo? Via Emilia is the northernmost of the three, not TOO far from 40th and Madison.

re: chompchomp
Probably impossible. Their prix fixe is $89, which is cheaper than getting 4 courses a la carte, and that doesn't include drinks, tax or tip. I wouldn't even consider it for someone who has a budget of under $100/person.
To me, like Lupa means Otto, though that's not always an easy reservation, either.
I have yet to go to L'Artusi, but in some ways, Supper is something like a poor man's Lupa - a couple of levels down in excellence, but still good, honest food with fresh ingredients. I don't think the location will please the original poster's group, though, and a group that large would almost definitely have to get a $75 prix fixe and sit in the basement.
To the original poster: Please consider that with a large group, many places will force you to get a more expensive prix fixe, to which they will pre-add a service charge. So when talking to reservationists, make sure to ask whether your group will be permitted to order a la carte.

Koi is NOTHING like Lupa. And not even close to 40th and Madison.
Thus, your post makes no sense.
In order to better assist, what are you looking for? Lupa-like? Koi-like? 40th and Madison?
Day of week?
What meal?
How many people?
What cuisine?
Any dislikes, allergies, restrictions?
How much do you want to spend pp - including tax, tip? With out without booze?-----

re: tribeca07
Lupa with a big group is a $60pp prix fixe before tax, tip, or any wine.
I don't think $60pp with wine is a generous enough budget for something close to Lupa. Maybe before wine. Try the private room at L'artusi, it's run by ex-Babbo folks.

Ohhhh, you want GOOD food. Snark aside...
Still don't get it. It has to be 40th and Mad? She was willing to travel but only to Lupa because it is her favorite? Otherwise 40th and Mad is where it should be?
Kathryn is right. Though again, nowhere near 40th and Mad, L'artusi is delicious. Great energy, service, vibe, accessible wine list. dell'anima also great albeit a bit more expensive I think. Though from the same group.
